I’ve been in this game for a wee while now. And, as you’d expect, I’ve noticed there are a few important things people tend to ask when they’re looking for a professional wedding photographer. I’ve pulled together some answers to my most F A’d of Q’s for you to peruse. If you’ve got a question keeping you up at night, have a look to see if there’s an answer here. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, just drop me a message using the contact form.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should we book?

I recommend booking as soon as you’ve set a date and booked your venue. I take on a set number of weddings each year to make sure I give each one the time, care and attention that it deserves. I generally have bookings a year to two years in advance. For babies and families, I can be a bit more flexible, so shoot me a message using the contact form and we’ll go from there.

What is your approach on the wedding day?

I’m pretty relaxed and personable as a person, but I’ve always got my eye on the ball. I’ll keep things chilled but will put my boss hat on when needed. I’m all about natural, documentary style photography full of candid moments and genuine love. No cringey posing or forced smiles. You will usually find me mingling with your guests capturing their experience of the day. I often hear ‘we forgot you were there’ and I am sometimes mistaken for a guest!

What if it rains on the day?

Not a problem. I have photographed plenty of weddings where it has rained. I come equipped with umbrellas and if you really want to go for it in the rain, you can always bring a pair of wellies. During the summer months it’s usually just a shower, so we can always switch things around and do the outside photographs later in the day. Otherwise we can always find somewhere inside your venue. In a nutshell, we’ll do like Beyonce and make some lemonade!

Can our family & friends view / buy prints online?

Yes! Your photos will go onto a private, password-protected site. That means you can share the password with your nearest and dearest and they can access your photos with the option to buy prints.

Do you have backup equipment?

Yes! I have a spare everything.

How do we make a booking?

The first thing to do is send me a message via my contact form, then I can confirm if I am available for your chosen date. Next, I’ll send you a price list and if you’re keen, arrange a meeting to chat about your plans and show you my portfolio. If you decide to make a booking, all you need to do is fill out a booking form and pay a £200 deposit and we’re good to go. I’ll then send you a signed confirmation for your records.

Do you have business insurance?

Yes. I have Public Liability Insurance and Professional Indemnity Cover.

What is your photography style?

My style is natural, relaxed and tasteful. I look for lots of natural light and vibrant colours. I’m pretty good at noticing things and I absolutely love spotting unexpected photo opportunities. Capturing little hidden moments that people usually miss is my superpower. I like to get a good mix of natural photography alongside couples portraits, group shots and detail shots. Brought together these paint a vibrant picture of your day that you can cherish forever. Check out my gallery section and blog for a closer look at my work.

We hate posing for pictures. Do we have to pose?

Preach. I hate posing for pictures too! For most people, posing isn’t natural and we’re just not used to it. If you’re uncomfortable, it shows. And who wants pictures of themselves looking uncomfortable? Not me. You most certainly don’t have to pose if you don’t want to. My style is all about capturing the REAL you and the joy of your wedding day, so relax and enjoy it!
