My newborn photography sessions perfectly captures the joy, excitement and sheer awe of those early days. Those precious moments as you get to know the newest member of the family.
My newborn shoots are completely relaxed and totally baby led. We’ll make sure there is plenty of time for them to feed, any changes and for those all important cuddles! I capture all the details - the nursery, teeny toes and downy skin, snuggles and little frowns and smiles. My sessions capture baby alone and you all as a family, that unique and wonderful connection. These are photographs that you will look back on for years to come.
The newborn days pass by in the blink of an eye and before too long you’ve got a rampaging toddler, an energetic child and a need to get out of the house! That’s where my documentary family photography sessions come in.
These shoots are all about getting out and about, going wild and capturing the personalities and characters that make up your family. I don’t want poses, I don’t want you all to say “cheese!” or smile awkwardly at my camera. Let the kids run free! We’ll splash through puddles, play hide and seek, chase them across the garden or capture those screams of laughter as they run around. All the joy of being together!
My photographs show your family as you know them. Dirty knees, gap toothed smiles, wrinkled noses and excited grins. The touch of a hand, tight hugs and a brief moment of quiet before they dash off on another adventure.
Where do the shoots take place?
All of my newborn sessions take place in your home and last around 3-4 hours. I keep the entire session very relaxed and laid back, plenty of time for baby to be fed and have some extra snuggles whenever they need.
Family sessions can take place wherever you like!
At home, in the garden, on a favourite walk or running around the beach! If you’re stuck for locations then just let me know and I’ll send over some of my best spots.
When is the best time to book in a newborn shoot?
I recommend getting in touch just after your 20 week scan. We can then book you in around your due date. Newborn photos always work best in the first two to three weeks of baby being born so it’s best to book in asap!
Lauren, help us! What shall we wear?
The big question! My answer is always, wear what you feel most comfortable in. Avoid any huge logos or clashing colours. There’s no need to all be matching but coordinated colours and tones look great! Most importantly, wear clothes that make you feel like you!
What if the weather is awful?
This is Scotland, we know all about bad weather! Depending on just how bad the rain/snow/hail is we can either grab our coats, wellies and brollies and embrace it. Or we’ll reschedule! Either way I’ll be in touch on the run up to your photography session to go through it all and make a plan B if needed.
Can our dog get involved?
Of course, I love dogs! Our Millie is a huge part of our family so I know how important it is to include our canine friends.
