Nicola and Calum’s relaxed Fruin Farm Micro Wedding, Loch Lomond

I absolutely loved being part of Nicola and Calum’s intimate Loch Lomond wedding. The weather gods were shining down on them, and indeed on Fruin Farm, back in December as they picked the most perfect day for their micro wedding. Blue skies, winter sunshine, a stunning location and their friends and family. Not bad for a Plan B eh?!

Nicola and Calum had, like so many of my couples, endured a stressful wait throughout 2020. Their original summer wedding had been cancelled due to the pandemic but they just couldn’t wait to get married. As soon as regulations began to ease they sprang into action and started making plans.

A winter wedding at Fruin Farm

Set amidst acres of countryside, in the beautiful Trossachs National Park, Fruin Farm is the perfect location for a wedding. Close to the shores of Loch Lomond, it has stunning views, a backdrop of rolling hills and a cosy stone barn, an ideal spot to declare your love for each other in front of your favourite people.

Twenty of Nicola and Calum’s loved ones, along with their hilarious and energetic three year old Harris, joined them under the oak beams to hear their personalised vows in a funny, unique ceremony overseen by the fantastic Alan Barr from Independent Humanist Ceremonies. A particular highlight for everyone was their wee dachshund Heidi, acting as ring bearer, running down the aisle with wedding rings attached to her collar!

Nicola and Calum emerged from the barn into a cloud of confetti and cheers from their guests. I love this moment on a wedding day, the nerve-wracking vows are done and it’s time to celebrate!

Creative, fun couples portraits

While their guests explored the farm - Harris was particularly taken with the Alpacas - Nicola, Calum and I took the chance to nip away for some couple’s portraits. Nicola was fully prepared for muddy fields, she pulled on a pair of Hunter wellies, hitched her dress up and off we went!

Portraits are a good chance for newlyweds to have a breather, take some time out with each other and revel in the fact that they’ve just got married. I don’t go for any stiff and awkward poses, just two people having a giggle together and I capture it all. Nicola and Calum were naturals in front of the camera - I don’t think we stopped laughing for a minute!

Glasgow and the Trossachs wedding photography

I’m a huge fan of countryside weddings, my relaxed and natural photography style is perfect for chilled out couples who want to have fun with their friends while I document their day.

As a Glasgow wedding photographer I’m within easy reach of the Trossachs and Loch Lomond, and love any excuse to head out into Scotland’s stunning National Parks!
