Autumnal Dalduff Farm Wedding Photos with Golden Light

Dalduff Farm wedding photos - Kirsten and Scott

Back in August 2022 - which feels like a very long time ago now! - I joined Kirsten, Scott and the adorable Alfie and Isabella, for their wedding at Dalduff Farm in Ayrshire.

Now, Dalduff Farm is one of my favourite wedding venues, I regularly shoot there and I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of it. The amazing views, the incredible barn space, the rustic charm … it’s fab! If you’re after a unique wedding venue that’s surrounded by countryside then I highly recommend it.

Wedding photography at Dalduff Farm

Both Kirsten and Scott got ready at Dalduff Farm so I was able to flit back and forth between them that morning. I love it when I’m able to spend time with both the bride and the groom for prep. I just adore the atmosphere, the heady excitement, the nerves and the banter. Scott and the boys had wee Alfie with them. He’s a little charmer and looked super smart in his suit. I love how he posed alongside his Dad, a proper little ‘mini me’!

Kirsten and her bridesmaids were getting ready in the traditional stone Farmhouse, a stunning place to spend the wedding morning. The huge windows let in lots of lovely natural light so I was in my element, along with Jennifer Mathison who was on makeup duties. We do love that soft sunshine!

I’ve got to take a moment to shout about gin and rings! It sounds bonkers but apparently, it works. You’ll spot a photo of some rings resting in dishes. They’re actually lying in neat gin. We were told it cleans rings, making them spotless, so all the girls couldn’t resist trying it. I love all the random little hints and tips I come away from weddings with!

Back to bridal prep. Little Isabella was stealing the show from the moment I walked in. She was giddy with excitement and loved running around with the other flower girls. Then, as tends to happen, that excitement turned to overwhelm and the poor wee thing got very upset just as we were about to head to the ceremony. We parents know that these things happen and wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, you just drop everything and be with your child. It may have made Kirsten a wee bit late for the ceremony but it makes for a fab story to tell Isabella when she’s older!

Ayrshire weddings

Humanist, Jennifer Buchan, who was leading Kirsten and Scott’s ceremony is fab. A warm and welcoming presence who immediately put them both at ease and led the ceremony with humour and emotion.

They held their ceremony in the Main Barn. A long, low roofed building with a beautiful panelled ceiling, fairy lights and bright, white walls.

After Scott and Kirsten had said their vows they left the barn to cheers and whoops from their guests, who were soon gathering around them for hugs. This is always one of my favourite parts of a wedding day. I love the huge smiles, the cuddles, the handshakes and the kisses. Everyone is so full of joy and ready to celebrate with the newlyweds!

Their drinks reception was held in the spacious Dutch Barn. Plenty of room for everyone to grab a drink, mingle and chat away. We used the distinctive red walls of the barn as a backdrop for their family photographs. I love the shots of Kirsten and Scott with their grandmothers. Two wonderful women who play a very important role in the couple’s life.

Scott, Kirsten and I took some time out for a wee walk around, they chatted away together whilst I took some natural portraits of the two of them. Then it was back to the wedding for speeches, food and more kid chaos! Isabella and Alfie were having the time of their lives, it’s so special that they got to share this day with their mum and dad.

Before we knew it Fresh Entertainments got the music started, the sax player appeared (a brilliant surprise) and everyone hit the dancefloor. What a day! Here are some of my favourites…
