The Bothy Glasgow Wedding in the West End on a Stunning Spring Day in the City

The Bothy Glasgow Wedding - Lorna and Matt

Ahh The Bothy, my home from home! This is a regular wedding haunt of mine and you’ll find me hanging out here - with my camera of course - about five times a year. Luckily I love it and I absolutely adore the Wee West End Weddings that I shoot here.

Wedding photography at The Bothy, Glasgow

That morning I joined Lorna and Matt, who were both getting ready at One Devonshire Gardens, an iconic West End hotel. It was a super chilled-out vibe, their two wee children, Philippa and Angus were with them along with a handful of friends and family.

Matt looked so sharp in his pink suit and I immediately fell in love with Lorna’s baby blue Loeffler Randall heels. They’ve gone straight onto my wish list!

Once everyone was suited, booted and looking amazing it was just a short stroll round to The Bothy from One Devonshire Gardens, where all the guests were greeted by a piper.

The Bothy, tucked away on Ruthven Lane in Glasgow’s West End is a Scottish bolthole, a cosy tavern that serves incredible culinary delights. Downstairs is the quirky pub whilst upstairs you’ll find The Scullery, a private dining room and the place where Lorna and Matt said their vows.

Relaxed wedding ceremony at The Bothy

The lovely Susan Mathieson conducted their Humanist ceremony. The Scullery is such a beautiful setting for an intimate ceremony. All of Lorna and Matt’s guests took their seats around the large dining table while they stood at the front, hands clasped, ready to say their vows. Little Phillippa soon came to join them and cuddled up to her Mum during the ceremony. It was a very sweet moment.

The Scullery doesn’t need much additional decor to look amazing and Lorna and Matt had kept things nice and simple with a floral centrepiece and some gin bottles. They’d also written a personal letter to each of their guests which was such a beautiful touch and meant a lot to everyone.

After the ceremony - and after some colourful confetti was thrown - everyone gathered in the Bothy Garden for drinks and canapes. Whilst their guests mingled Lorna, Matt and I nipped off a wee wander around Ruthven Lane. It was the perfect opportunity to get some very natural, relaxed portraits of them both - and Isabella who came along to photobomb at one point! She’s such a wee character and it was a real joy to photograph her.

I absolutely loved spending time with Lorna, Matt and their loved ones at The Bothy. It was a beautiful day and it took me a while to put together my highlights for this blog - there were so many moments I wanted to share!
